first day of school

 after spending a restful morning around the cottage, i drove into gibsons and {finally} exchanged our US dollars for canadian dollars. so now we have cash instead of having to rely on debit cards. after my trip into town. i stuck around roberts creek and had a latte at the gumboot garden cafe (the gumboot cafe and restaurant are roberts creek's only dining establishments. fortunately, they are delicious, and they even grow their own salad greens!) the cafe is right in the schools front yard (i took the photo above from my seat on the patio).  aaron spotted me when they took a lunch break and we enjoyed some pizza together. after lunch, he gave me a tour of the facilities. i think it's safe to say he is really enjoying himself so far. their instructor, robert, said that a young man from alabama just graduated from their craftsman program (the two year program). aaron is already talking about giving him a call, and possibly renting some bench space to him in the new shop, or maybe even giving him a job! i guess we know he would be well trained!

{1. aaron's workbench, 2. some of aaron's tools in their home for the week, and 3. a hand-crank grinder that aaron has decided his shop at home needs.}
