Six years ago today, my husband (well, my boyfriend at the time...) proposed. I think this is actually the first year since then I have remembered this on the appropriate day. I guess since my brother is getting married next weekend(!), I've got weddings on the brain. Though I rarely pay tribute to this special day, I thought I would today.
Here is a list of things I have loved about being married (it is by no means complete):
1. Our wedding. It was hands down, the best day of my life. Since most of it went by in a blur, I think I carry with me most a love of that location. Sometimes I get funny looks from people when I tell them we got married at a 4H camp (and appallingly enough have even been criticized for my choice!), but I really really love it there. Why? picturesque outdoor chapel, beautiful reception overlooking the lake, and onsite accomodations for my precious out-of-town family. Love. It.

2. He makes me laugh. For real, he can seem soft spoken because he doesn't care too much about being the center of attention, but he is hilarious. I have a theory that we are actually healthier because how much of our time together is spend cracking up. Like Patch Adams.
3. Our home. I have found so much joy in "nesting" and putting together a home for us. I never knew how much I loved a clean house or how much a deep freezer would delight me, but it is pretty easy to see how awesome it is to have a woodworker at your disposal. Having someone to share a home with is such a blessing in this life. This leads me to my next item...
4. Never having to sleep alone. This was also my biggest adjustment to married life: he steels the covers, I like to sleep diagonally, and for the first 6 months we slept in a double bed. However, even feeling a cramped in bed with no space, in a drafty apartment with no covers it was still fun to know that he was right there and that the days of having to part ways overnight were over. Also, we get a huge kick out of the other person talking in their sleep.
4. Adventure. I'm not an incredibly brave person, but he is. I am so grateful this, and because of it, I think our lives are richer and fuller than they would ever be otherwise.
Marriage has been good to me, because my husband is so good for me.

What a blessing for me to read that you are happy in your marriage. That is what a mom wants for her daughter--to be married to a man that loves her and that she loves and that they both love Christ--everything I pray for you is right there. I can't ask for anything more. My cup runneth over.
Love,
mom
